Your rights as a tenant in Wales
Wales has its own tenancy laws. Under the Renting Homes (Wales) Act, you have an occupation contract with clear rights and protections.
Written occupation contract
You must receive a written contract within 14 days of moving in.
Fitness for human habitation
Your landlord must ensure the property is fit for you to live in throughout your occupation contract.
Deposit protection
Your deposit must be protected in an approved scheme and you must be given the prescribed information.
Minimum notice periods
You're protected by minimum notice periods before any eviction proceedings can begin.
